JRCLS San Diego Chapter Women in the Law Committee
Organized in 2008, the Women in the Law Committee is charged with striving for professional excellence, public service, and an open exchange of ideas to promote fairness and equal opportunities for women in the law. As part of the JRCLS San Diego Chapter, we affirm the strength brought to the law by including and celebrating women who bring their personal religious conviction to their practice of the law.

One of our primary goals is to assist women in identifying and resolving issues of the profession, including building a career and reputation in the legal community, confronting gender bias, and balancing family issues. The quality of life issue has become increasingly important as the profession continues to grow with strong competent women who are continually performing a balancing act with life and work.

The Committee remains committed to supporting women in the law and we welcome your input and participation on issues that are important to you and the legal profession. If you have any comments or suggestions, please contact the Women in the Law Committee Chair, Elaine Young at eyoung@kmclaw.com.

As a new committee, we are currently in the process of identifying women in the San Diego Chapter area who are interested in meeting periodically or corresponding via listserv regarding women's issues. Please contact Elaine if you are interested in being included on our email list. Our first event was held in January 2009 and we plan to hold another event during the second half of 2009 in North County. We will also begin posting information (e.g., articles, speeches, links to bar association websites) of relevance to women in the law on this website. Anyone who has something would like to submit is encouraged to contact the webmaster, Steve Pynes at spynes@ferrisbritton.com.
